Properties

Some of the properties of powder coating include:

  • Resistance to corrosion and cleaning agents
  • Available in a wide range of colors
  • Good UV and weather resistance

These properties make powder coating ideal for external applications such as

  • Fences and gates
  • Railings
  • Outdoor furniture
  • Boats and marine equipment
  • Pipes and fittings

Advantages Over Paint

In addition to its harder and more durable finish, powder coating has a faster curing time. While traditional powders require curing at 200° C for 10 to 15 minutes, there are powders that cure with ultraviolet light and “low bake” thermosetting powders that allow powder coating heat-sensitive materials such as wood and plastics.
